The Making of Madison’s 5th Birthday Dress
A special birthday tradition that stated last year was the creation of a special dress on Madison’s behalf with the team at Charlotte Sy Dimby. This collaboration process has proven to be so special and one of the things Madison and I look forward to most all year! This year is Madison’s fifth birthday and I would say that she is interested in many of the common girly girly things this age values most: princesses, bows and rainbows. In trying to match her dream dress with an end goal aesthetic, Monique and Sybille helped me come up with the most perfect and idyllic dress for the occasion.
While smocking is their specialty and my favorite look, they were able to combine five colors of thread to come up with the most beautiful pastel rainbow bows I have ever seen! To say that I was amazed how much I adored this look!! It is quintessentially girly and fun!
The details that go into the hand-stiched dresses are mind boggling, and to think all of this is done in Madagascar and then sent to Paris before it makes its way to the United States is just incredible.
As always I like to draw inspiration from current Fashion Collections and was inspired by this Zimmerman white top and skirt as well as the pastel rainbow flats from the current Chanel Cruise Collection. Mixing these elements seemed like the perfect way to bring to life Madison’s dream dress and pair an existing outfit for Mom.

The other darling detail is that they made a matching dress for Madison’s American Girl Doll! Truly a treasure to be able to have down to the little bloomers! Not a detail goes unnoticed with this talented team!
This year I am thrilled to be adding one of the precious Bimbom Bunnies to Madison’s collection with custom dresses and either a crown or party hat in adornment. I have to tell you, our bunny just arrived and it just might be the most beautiful and adorable thing I have ever seen. The materials are so soft and elegant and the bunny is much larger than I anticipated. I can’t recommend this purchase enough and they are handmade in Poland! Truly a treasure of a keepsake!
